The Trust gives grants to people in order that they may continue to garden despite disability or advancing illness. We do not provide grants for gardeners, clearing, cutting down trees, levelling, turfing or fencing but provide grants towards a project e.g. paving to assist movement, raised beds, specially adapted tools, or a greenhouse. Please write to us telling us why you are applying for a grant.
What we require from you
- Membership of the Garden Club – Free
- Confirmation of your disablilty
- Quotes or estimates for the work to be done
You will need to be a member of our Garden Club, which is free. This enables us to share our newsletters with you and give you details of events and news about GDT’s work. You will be able to see what others have achieved with the grants they were awarded. You can become a member now by clicking or tapping here. You can then return to this page. We will not give or sell your details to other persons or organisations.
We also need a short note from either your doctor, Social Services or salaried Project Leader confirming your disability.
You must also include an estimate of materials to be used and, if labour is required, then 2 competitive quotes from reliable builders or landscape gardeners. To make the most of your grant, we suggest you seek voluntary labour from local organisations. Your Citizens Advice Bureau or local library may be able to direct you to such help.
Once you have gathered you documents please send them to ‘Gardening for Disabled Trust, P.O. Box 285, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. TN2 9JD’. (Please do NOT send items by recorded/signed for delivery as a signature is required and as we are all volunteers are not always available to sign for them).
Once we have received your application, the suggested work and estimates, our committee will decide what help we can give. We are always sympathetic to requests but our income is limited and we like to help as many people as possible, so we may have to limit the amount we can give to each applicant.
If you are able to scan or photograph your documents you can send them to us by filling in this online form.
We will never share your personal information with anyone else.
